These are some tips for safe fasting for diabetes patients if you’re planning on fasting:

1. Tell your doctor that you’re planning on fasting, so if you’re on medications for diabetes or high blood pressure, your doctor might  want to make some adjustments during Ramadan.

2. Stay hydrated & make sure you’re drinking enough fluids & water  during Suhoor and Iftar.

3. Test your blood glucose while you’re fasting and check for high blood  glucose, low blood glucose levels or severe dehydration.

4. Be aware of overeating as overeating can cause spikes in blood glucose.

5. During Iftar try and avoid sugary drinks. Break the fast with fruits or dry  fruits.

• There are some signs that you should stop fasting which include blurred vision, irregular heart rate, dizziness, faintness & confusion.
