Iron

  is an essential element that plays a vital role in your body such as energy production, growth and the synthesis of hormones. There are some food that helps increase Iron absorption such as:

1. Food rich in Vitamin C such as: citrus fruits, dark green leafy vegetables, bell peppers, melons and strawberries.

2. Food with Vitamin A & Beta-Carotene such as: carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale, squash, red peppers, cantaloupe, apricots, oranges and peaches.

3. Meat, fish and poultry can also help increase iron absorption.

• Other food can significantly decrease iron absorption such as:

1. Food containing phytate or phytic acid such as: whole grains, bran, soy, nuts and legumes.

2. Calcium rich food such as diary products, milk & cheese

3. Food containing Polyphenols such as: coffee, tea, wine & some cereals.
