Sore throat is one of the most common symptoms, and it can happen due to some infections or environmental factors like dry air. Some causes of sore throat can be due to:
1. Cold or flu and other viral infections.
2. Strep throat and other bacterial throat infections.
3. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which is a condition that cause acid from the stomach backs up into the esophagus.
4. Allergies such as: pollen, grass, and pet dander.
5. Laryngitis, which is inflammation of the voice box or tonsillitis, which
is inflammation of the tonsils.
6. It can be a tumor of the throat, if it’s a sign of throat cancer.
7. Smoke, cigarettes, air pollution, chemicals and other irritants.
