Diarrhea can happen due to several reasons which includes an infection by a virus, bacteria or parasite, a side effect of some medications, inability to digest some substances or food intolerances, or it can happen due to some gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease like colitis or crohn’s disease, bowel cancer & diabetes. It’s very important to check with your doctor and do some tests in order to know the exact reason for diarrhea.
• Some of the things that can be done to prevent or manage diarrhea includes:
- Drinking plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
- Avoid caffeine, or very hot & very cold drinks.
- Avoid spicy or fatty & heavy foods.
- Avoid fried food or diary products if your diarrhea is severe.
- Try to eat low fiber food or “BRAT food” such as: bananas, white rice, applesauce and toast.
