Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF)

 is an inherited condition which is an autoinflammatory disorder that causes repeated fevers and painful inflammation in the joints, lungs or abdomen. FMF occurs in people of Mediterranean origin, including those of Armenian, North African, Arab, Turkish, Greek or Italian ancestry.

● Symptoms include fever, abdominal pain, chest pain, achy swollen joints, red rash on the legs and muscle aches.

● Causes of FMF is due to gene mutation which is passed from parents to children, & causes problems in regulating inflammation in the body.

● Treatment can help control the symptoms which may include Colchicine which helps prevent attacks of FMF and other drugs to prevent inflammation.
