Gout is a common type of arthritis that causes intense pain

 , swelling and stiffness in a joint, particularly in the big toe. This condition is caused by excess uric acid in the bloodstream. A kidney or thyroid problem or an inherited disorder, can make it harder for your body to remove excess uric acid. Symptoms of Gout include:

● Intense joint pain in one or more joints

● swelling in and around the affected joint

● Affected joint becomes tender, warm and red.

● Lingering discomfort

Sudden gout attacks can develop rapidly over a few hours and typically last three to 10 days. Commonly used treatment include NSAIDs, corticosteroids & colchicine to relieve gout pain and reduce inflammation.
